High Utility Non-combat Drones were an essential part of the Last War even though they mostly provided support. The H.U.N.D main roles included search and rescue, medical support ,supply delivery, and espoinage though they participated in other needed positions for for highly mobile , light robots. They have the ability to "eat" charged batteries of appropriate size, swallowing them to allow their inner mechanisms to harvest the stored energy. The battery casings are then internally processed and extruded into useful 3D printed shapes. After their decommission and freedom most H.U.N.D s chose to take on companion or caretaker duties for other robots and humans, becoming vital sources of assistance and morale for their adopted communities."
BERN-4-RD was one of the first H.U.N.D prototypes introduced to the public by San Antonio Kinetics, a robotics company contracted to develop walking drones. To appeal to the public these models were tasked with giving away cold water ( branded , of course) to the hot Riverwalk tourists. They were a hit and became the mascot of S.A.K. Eventually true H.U.N.D units were developed to serve on battlefields , crisis areas and even in some business and medical use. Now that the Last War is over BERN-4-RD continues his legacy as a water delivery unit taking purified, clean drinking water from the treatment rig to the human residents of his village who can't get around easily. Well loved and treated with utmost respect, he never misses a round and can be seen daily performing his duties like clockwork. Many residents take a moment to show their appreciation with a few old batteries for a treat or wiping any dust or debris from his joints before he moves on to the next house. But hard working BERN-4-RD can't spare too much time for rewards...he has thirsty people to get to! BERN-4-RD is a very good boy, 12/10.
( A HUGE thank you to Steven Dwyer for making the S.A.K logo!)
This is a hand made, articulated art toy. It is 10. 5" long not including the tail and 6.5" tall. It is meant to be in 1/6 scale making the "real" drones around 4 feet tall.
The original was hand sculpted and then cast in urethane. It is hand painted and accessorized with a store bought 1/6 fabric vest that i cut apart and resewed.
It has multiple points of movement and can be put into a variety of poses. She stands well on her own as long as all four feet are touching the ground. I will include a stand for this piece for more sturdy display. Please take care when posing, do not force her joints! They should stay tight with careful play but the buyer may have to occasionally tighten them with a screwdriver. This is a one of a kind piece of artwork, meant for adult collectors.
