EXPERIMENTAL SCIFI LIGHT PROP BLANKS

This is a light I made for my camp at Neotropolis for 2025! I wanted to make an illuminated prop that could sit on the ground and be flexible in case someone trips over it. I also wanted to make something I could do on the rotocasting machine I bought this summer.

These two blanks are imperfect experiments rotocast in Simpact which resulted in too thin/uneven walls or too thick overall. The longer cure time of Smoothcast 61D ended up giving the best result! One of these casts is THICK but may still light up, the other is very thin with some parts that crack open with pressure but simpact is meant to have a lot of flex so these cracks dont seem to want to break. They could both still be painted up for a cool display! (they are in my way, please give them a home!)

Right cast has paint splattered on it but some 99% rubbing alcohol should wipe it off.

12.5" ACROSS.

I hung my painted 61D cast example on the wall for now and used a light kit from Evan Designs to try out lighting.

I used a wood circle and a ring so that the weight of it being on the wall doesn't distort the shape.
