Some of you may recognize this as the blade from the Gunnm ( Battle Angel Alita) series. I am attempting to make a version of it for my own costume prop and these are two large prototypes. These are NOT perfect, these are size and assembly experiments. You can flip them open but the 1/8" acrylic is very flexible and does a little wobble. I experimented with Delrin plastic for the middle layer of the iridescent sword, it is VERY flexible and tough but not as rigid as I had hoped. The black bladed version has just acrylic for all of the layers.
These are 19" folded, 35" open. The blades dont line up into the cover perfectly straight, parts are crooked, again these are prototypes made to see if it would even work! Be careful with these, they are durable but not indestructible.
Note that the iridescent blade has some of the foil torn off!
