UFU THE SQUIDULUM OOAK ART DOLL

This is Ufu! He is a Squidulum. Squidulums are monsters my mom used to tell me about, which were from stories her father used to tell her as a girl. He would make scary shadow puppets with huge long teeth, claiming the Squidulum was a horrible creature who would carry off naughty kids. Well, im happy to tell you this is not true! Squidulums are actually harmless little nature spirits who like to burrow in the earth. They actually look like a mix of Tegu lizard, gecko and a bird. My great grandfather was involved with oil drilling and probably disturbed a lot of these little critters through his work. I'm betting they weren't super happy with him and perhaps this led to some of the stories he told his children, painting them in a bad light.  All the Squidulums i have met have been friendly and cheerful...Ufu is no exception! He loves to dig holes in the ground to look for food and a place to nap. Ufu loves ground turkey and cherries and also likes to take bubble baths.

This is a one of a kind handmade doll. The head, hands and feet are cast urethane which is hand painted and clear coated. The body is hand sewn faux fur stuffed with soft filling with no armature. Hand dyed wool ears and back "feathers".

Ufu's necklace is made from a jade slab, jade beads, seed, wood and brass.

11" sitting. He will come with an etched and signed wood tag marking him as one of my handmade critters.

This is a piece of art meant for adult collectors. He can be touched and cuddled a bit but please treat this with care.
