**PLEASE BE AWARE THIS IS A PROP, NOT SAFETY EQUIPMENT. IT WILL NOT PROVIDE ANY PROTECTION! THIS IS A WEARABLE COSTUME ART PIECE, NOT A FUNCTIONING MOTORCYCLE HELMET**
HELMET: This helmet was hand sculpted and cast in urethane. The visor is a store bought motorcycle bubble visor. The helmet weighs 3lbs ( AA batteries for the fan adds a lot) Padding is installed with a velcro system, there is a black layer that is held on with high strength glue on the helmet itself. On top of those there is velcro grey/red padding that sticks to the black padding. Please attempt to reposition/remove the velcro grey/red padding first to adjust the fit. Please be aware of the wires, I have glued some and taped others if they need to be moved.
Putting on the helmet: Please place it over the back of your head first and lower the front over your face- chin needs to rest inside the front so that it touches the inside padding. Press firmly but gently until your chin pops in. Close the chin strap gently ( don't pinch your skin!), pull on the red strap to open it.
My wiring is not the cleanest but I did my best to make everything last. The fan battery pack ( 4 x AA) can be pulled out gently, it is held on with velcro. It has a quick connect if you need to quickly change out a drained pack- i will include an extra battery holder for this ( give me an extra week to ship since i don't have the parts on hand at the time of this listing)
The four coin cell battery packs that power the lights ( 2 x 2032) are also held on with velcro and can be gently taken off from the padding for battery changes. I could have condensed them into one battery pack but i like that the coin cells are so flat and light plus im just a lil' beginner baby when it comes to electronics.
The back vent lights are covered by synthetic batting ( white stuff) that helps the light diffuse and look a bit smoky when turned on.
The fans themselves ( 2 x 5v 50mm) can be peeled from the surface ( velcro) for adjustment but there is not much room for them to be repositioned. They are a bit loud but provide a great amount of relief and anti-fogging. I recommend wearing one of these too as it looks great with the helmet and will provide extra cooling.
- This urethane is sensitive to heat. Please keep it out of direct sunlight as it can warp under it's own weight when hot.
I recommend displaying these masks on a paper towel holder, motorcycle helmet display or a hat display to prevent warping that can occur from bearing it's own weight during long term display. If storing, please use bundled cloth/foam/paper inside the mask to support the shape.
-If the mask does not fit or has warped, It can be heat shaped by immersing it in very hot water and shaping gently while soft. You can also use a heat gun or heat in the oven at around 175 degrees for a few minutes. Set the shape you want by immersing the warm mask in cold water or leaving on an upturned bowl or object to hold the shape while it cools.
- This is a project that should be attempted by adults or under adult supervision. Please read all safety warnings on materials you use. I am not responsible for any injuries sustained while customizing these masks.
-This mask fits most faces but a perfect fit is not guaranteed.
- Do not use this as safety equipment or a welding mask or anything else but costuming. I am not responsible for injuries sustained through improper use of this mask.
