"Corvus Helms are part of the distinctive armor worn by one of the most mysterious tribes of the Wasteland. Nobody knows how the helmets of the Order of the Scattered Spine are made or where they come from. Some whisper that the helmet's origin is not of the natural earth- perhaps mutant or even alien remains? They look like a metal but with bone like properties- or perhaps they are an insect like chitin shell? These helmets are indestructible and highly valued by The Order, passed from fallen warrior to child, between comrades and families for generations. Each helm develops it's own unique patina over time- some resembling old bone and others taking on a metallic or even iridescent sheen. Corvus Helm owners say that the helmets aged appearance changes with the wearer. Some have even told tales that the helmets are alive and symbiotically connect with it's wearer- most likely this is a legend created to cultivate the fear and mystery that outsiders have for the Order of the Scattered Spine. If one finds one of the Corvus Helms in the Wasteland with no owner present, it is best to leave it be....
You will be buying one (1) blank helmet cast in a semi-rigid dark brown/black urethane material as seen in the first few photos. The urethane used is quite durable.
Buyer will need to trim flash, sand edges and finish to their own preference. Buyer will need to lightly sand and prime this urethane then scrub the surface with dish soap before applying primer- this will remove any mold release that will prevent paint from sticking. The slits in the helmetcan be removed with an Xacto knife or a dremel.
- These helmets are made for costuming and are not in any way meant to be used for protective purposes.
- I strongly recommend that the buyer have familiarity with finishing masks, models, props or some crafting knowledge.
- A plastic nipper, a rasp , sandpaper or a dremel can be used to refine edges. You can even use carving tools. Here is a little more detailed info. Buyer should add foam to the inside of the helmet once it is finished to customize the fit. An elastic strap and a foam lined interior will aid in keeping it on your head. Please roughen the interior parts where you want to apply glue to help it stick better. Some craft/paint/kit building knowledge is recommended.
